» CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character NAME: Lucifer
Canon & MEDIUM: Shin Megami Tensei Series, Video Game
Canon PULL-POINT: He'll be coming from Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne after his first encounter with the Demi-Fiend.
Character AGE: lmfao i have no idea. i mean. he's lucifer as in "rebelled against god" lucifer so...like old as balls
Character ABILITIES:

Lucifer is exactly what you'd expect the devil to be in terms of "kicks heaven's ass".

His body alone not only give him immense strength and durability, but is highly resistant to all forms of elemental magic(fire/water(ice)/wind/electricity/Almighty(which is kind of like non-elemental magic) and outright immune to light and dark magic(along with insta-kill magic) and being poisoned. His mind is also complex, outrageously so, compared to that of a human's, giving him a guard against magic that debilitates the target mentally, which in-game encompasses forced sleep, mind control, panic, binding, being stunned or muted. It's important to note that he can be harmed by the methods of damage he resists, it's just it would take a lot to injure him in the first place, or if the character in question has the means to bypass his body's natural resistance to damage somehow.

He's also an incredibly potent sorcerer, being well-versed in all four forms of elemental magic(fire/water/electricity/wind), almighty spells(non-elemental basically), curative magic, debilitating magic and negating buffs.

He can charm people's minds into siding with him should be overcome their mental defenses.

Outside of combat, his magic can only be defined as general magic usage, since it falls under the categories of astral projection, invading telepathic visions started by others, possessing people, cloaking his presence to others, precognition, teleportation/dimensional travel, shapeshifting, manipulating time on a large scale(traveling through it, stopping it, etc) conjuration, which allows him to create things from as simple as a glass to as large as a pocket dimension of his own creation that he could destroy at will, telekinesis, the ability to watch the actions of others from afar mentally and the illusion creation.

Because of his exceptional spellcasting abilities, he's also able to negate magic in the sense of breaking curses, dispelling illusions, etc.

Finally, as the Lord of Chaos and Master of Hell he's able to not only summon demons at will but create them as well, sometimes simply willing them into existence or, in the case of wanting to go a step further, imbuing a non-demon with demonic influence and corrupt it's existence into becoming one, or at least partially.

Character HISTORY:
Once upon a time there was a guy named YHVH, or God. Being the Almighty One that he is, he created the world and the heavens and hell and humans and demons and everything. Unfortunately, he's somewhat of a vain son of a bitch, despising concepts such as "free will" and "individuality" to the point that anyone who speaks or acts out against him usually gets unrealistically proportioned punishments that don't suit the crime. He also created two instruments of his will, the strongest beings standing second only to God himself, Satan and Lucifer. Satan was a judge, meant to evaluate the actions and state of humanity and deem them worthy or unworthy of existence and their God's attention. Lucifer, meanwhile, was meant to enact punishment upon the world should Satan judge them guilty of sinning against Him.

Lucifer, being the Cool Guy that he is, figured this shit was whack.

He took a third of the heavenly host under his command and waged war against God and heaven in order to fight for individuality and release God's creations from his dictatorship. Unfortunately, he failed, being cast down from Heaven and stripped of his divinity, becoming a Demon instead. Over time, he gained the respect and admiration of all demonkind, becoming their one true undisputed King. Ever since, he's schemed and plotted in an attempt to overthrow God once and for all in order to create a universe which focuses solely on the worth of the individual and their strength, giving them the choice to do whatever they want as long as they have the strength and will to carry it out.

In all of the games Lucifer has appeared in, his involvement can handily be described as such:

Protagonist of Game is deciding piece in universal game of chess between forces of Law and Chaos
Lucifer gets close to them in an attempt to have them work for him
If they side with God he'll try to kill that motherfucker
If they side with Lucifer, he'll help them every step of the way in making his desired world of freedom and chaos.

In the first Shin Megami Tensei game, the Messians, a religious group worshipping the forces of Heaven, are trying to summon God into the world to create a thousand year kingdom of peace(but abolishing free will in the process.) while the Gaians, working for the forces of Hell, are trying to summon Lucifer instead. However, in this game, the Neutral ending is canon by it's sequel, meaning the protagonist decided to side with neither heaven nor hell and drive out the forces of God and Lucifer, creating an independent world where humanity fights for and relies on itself.

In the second Shin Megami Tensei, the world has become a post apocalyptic nightmare set upon a scorched, barren wasteland of a world. There's a a divide between humans and mutants, and a theocracy has been established by the Messian church who have risen to power. As the story progresses, it turns out the Main Character is a Messiah blessed by God to be Mankind's savior - how this happens depends on the ending of the game chosen through the player's actions during the game.

It's soon found out that God intends to use a mighty dragon known as Kuzuryu to destroy the planet - he orders Lucifer to take command of it and use it to do this. Lucifer, however, betrays God. He uses the demon Moloch to gather Magnetite, demonic energy that sustains the existence of supernatural beings, in order to keep Kuzuryu placated and dormant. He plans to use the dragon to liberate mankind, but discovering Lucifer's betrayal, God instead gives his only remaining Archangel at the time, Gabriel, another superweapon to use - Satan, reincarnated into the body of the protagonist's friend, Zayin.

What happens after this is dependent upon the player's choices, and while no ending is considered canon:

- In the LAW path, the protagonist works with Satan to defeat Lucifer, allowing them to create God's 1000 year kingdom on Eden and destroy Earth. Lucifer laments the fact they've chosen to side with God, claiming that soon the protagonist would see just how misguided God's ideal world is, and reminds the protagonist that everything that results from his defeat would be his fault and his fault alone.

- In the NEUTRAL path, Lucifer voices his displeasure with the Protagonist for being indecisive, stating that joining with neither Satan or himself was a result of his lack of fear and having lost his understanding of it. However, he claims he will show the protagonist true fear and attacks, only to be defeated. He tells the protagonist that he lacks direction, instead simply hurtling himself towards any and all foes and killing them without motivation. He believes that because of this, a world crafted by humanity would fail.

- In the CHAOS ending, Lucifer is overjoyed to hear the Protagonist's intent to lend the forces of chaos his strength. Together, the party + Lucifer fight their way to Satan, defeating God's last servant and then finally defeating God himself, who curses the protagonist to suffer for an eternity, and that the "Great Will" would revive Him anyway, meaning his defeat at the hands of the protagonist was futile. However, everyone ignores this, instead rejoicing that everything's cool again. The demons and mutant are no longer vilified by anyone, meaning their time of oppression is over and they have gained the freedom they desired at last.

I'm gonna go with the Chaos route for the sake of Lucifer here, but if a castmate going by a different route shows up, this can be easily worked out through "they're from different timelines" so.

He reprises his role in Nocturne, only it's far more involved than in previous games. At the beginning of the game, he infects the Protagonist with a parasite known as a Magatama, an insect-like creature that is described as the very essence of a Demon. When fused with another being, it can force them to become partially demonic in nature, a hybrid between their old existence and a demons, creating an entirely new being. He does this to create the Demi-fiend, a being that he hopes will become powerful enough to assist him in overthrowing God.

It's at this point he ends up in Exsilium.

Character PERSONALITY:

The most defining trait of Lucifer's is, undoubtedly, his Pride. It was his Pride that allowed him to defy God and continue to do so until this day. He believes that the worth of a person or being is defined by their individual merits, be it strength, intelligence or any other advantage they have over another. He thought that humanity didn't deserve to be wiped out entirely because of their flaws, but rather only the flawed should be, and the strong and competent should survive. His pride allowed him to believe he knew better than his own creator and rise up against him which, ultimately, also lead to his downfall, but his pride is also the driving force for his persistence.

You see, Lucifer is the very definition of patience and determination. He resists God and challenges his authority wherever he may be, in any given reality, attempting to locate any and all figures in said realities who may be able to help him fight God's presence in that world. Considering God's power wanes with every follower he loses and the less belief in him there is, you could almost consider this a strategic move on Lucifer's part to gradually weaken his one true foe enough in order to bring him down to a level where Lucifer could challenge and defeat him once and for all.

Which really leads us to the next part of Lucifer's character, that being his nature as a schemer and a planner. When it comes to approaching other people, he rarely - if ever - considers what they're like on a personal level(so long as they don't follow God.) Instead, he focuses on attributes such as their ability, their strength, their will and how he can use these traits to his advantage. As long as someone is willing to follow him, he doesn't care what they're like, as long as they're useful. This even extends to the length that, if they do manage to fulfill their duties given to them by Lucifer, he rewards them. He's not quite as malevolent as one might expect, only that he expects people to uphold their end of a bargain as much as he does.

Considering this, you can definitely assert that Lucifer has some sense of honor and nobility about him that you wouldn't see in other Demons, tying in with both his former divinity and, most importantly, his pride. To go back on a deal or betray someone would tarnish his pride in a way he wouldn't allow, so if he makes a deal or a promise to someone, there is no doubt he'll fulfill his end of the bargain unless his own conditions are gone against(like DONT SIDE WITH GOD. DID I MENTION HE HATES GOD.) While this definitely elevates him above his fellow demons, it would also be an incorrect assumption to say that Lucifer is an inherently good person.

This application paints him in a very benevolent light up until now, but it's important to remember that while Lucifer is comparatively(almost only arguably) a better choice than the vain ass dictator God, he is not an inherently good person. The world he desires favors the powerful, meaning with equality gone, the weak have noone to support them and are at the mercy of the strong(which could go into super awful territory if you really think about it) and he wouldn't care for those oppressed by his ideals at all, because they have no place in his world. It would be a realm entirely consumed by chaos where the dirty, underhanded and morally questionable type would get ahead, whereas those who show kindness or a strict sense of morals would easily fall prey to others, open to being manipulated, or worse, by those more cunning and chaotically inclined. Lucifer himself even has loose morals, as he has absolutely no qualms with killing people, or even sending out his own Demonic allies as tests to those he wishes to prove, simply reviving them from death after they're killed and more than likely one day forced to do so again and again, acting as mere obstacles or tests for those who are more useful to him.

There's also the fact that despite his intentions benefiting people, it's quite possible his motivation is entirely without good intent. You could almost see a level of spite beneath his actions, using everyone he can find to further his rebellion against God and deny God followers or territory, again, simply to spite him. He is obsessed with outdoing his creator at every turn, using every means he can use to do it. In one instance, he even says that he has no love for Humanity, but at the same time he won't abandon them, as if his actions are more dutybound than they are out of compassion. While Lucifer presents himself as affable and charming, the truth behind it all is he's selfish and utterly consumed with his desire for revenge again God, which pushes and motivates all of his actions, even if they promote freedom and remove God from his position from which he subjugates those who would not obey him. He's also a purely logical being, apathetic towards the emotions and feelings of others when he speaks his mind, never taking into account the effect his words could have on them.

Finally, and bringing back his Pride once more as the central aspect of his character, Lucifer is singleminded to the fullest when it comes to his conflict with God. In any given situation he perceives what's going on around him as relevant to his constant battle with God. The idea that something happening around him doesn't somehow relate to his ongoing struggle against the tyrannical forces of Heaven and their leader is unimaginable, quite simply, and it's one of the reasons he forms deals with people in the first place. You might want to save your dog purely to save your dog, but Lucifer wants you to save your Dog so it can one day become half demon, fuse with you, and turn you into an instrument with which he can once again strike down a facet of God's unending tyranny.

Did I mention he hates God?

» EXSILIUM INFORMATION
Chosen WEAPON: Lucifer has chosen a simple candelabra which, through a little divine/demonic intervention from him, now sports a rather gaudy and magnificent appearance. It will do amazing things I totally have planned out.
Character INVENTORY: A suit for his child, adult and elderly forms, a dress for his female form. Of course these will be stored elsewhere using ~magic~.

First PERSON:

There's something encouraging about this entire scenario. That might strike you as odd to hear, but the sight of resistance in the face of such oppressive conditions is admirable; I've seen others do far worse with much more at their disposal.

Know that no matter what happens, what may come - you shall have my blessing in your endeavors. I will continue to support the initiative in any way I can, and all of you as well, so that we may liberate those bound and restricted by the harshness of absolute law.

Let us build your futures together, everyone.

» ADDITIONAL NOTES
Although he is incredibly powerful, I think with proper planning and careful management of permissions from players involved in anything to do with him(or mods, if it's anything huge), Lucifer could be played at full power without being gamebreaking or some kind of douchebag showoff. HOWEVER, if there's anything you guys want me to restrict or remove from his powers section, feel free, cause I'd entirely understand.
